The Trauma Centre Team
Richard Mitchell MPhil is the clinical Director of The Trauma Centre.
He is a UKCP psychotherapist with over 20 years experience of working with
a wide range of emotional problems. He was trained in EMDR by Francine Shapiro
in 1993/4. He is a facilitator of the EMDR Institute and an EMDR Europe accredited
Consultant and Trainer. Richard is President of the EMDR Europe Association
(the overseeing body that maintains standards of training and practice of
EMDR throughout Europe). He has extensive experience in working with post-traumatic
stress and trauma and has travelled widely to teach professionals and work
with victims of major natural disasters, civil unrest and war. His background
is in Mental Health Social Work and he worked within the NHS as a senior manager
before taking up private practice.
Dr Pall Jonsson MD, consultant psychiatrist, EMDR accredited practitioner, MA(systemic studies), specialist in psychological trauma. Pall leads a multidisciplinary team that works with young people with mental health problems. He has extensive experience in working with people with history of early trauma, including severe abuse and complex traumatic stress. In his approach he combines his medical skills with his therapeutic skills and offers a holistic approach tailor made to the individuals needs.
Sian Morgan B.A (Hons), Dip Couns, BACP Senior Registered Practitioner, UKRC Registered Independent Counsellor, EMDR Accredited Practitioner. Sian started her work as a counsellor in 1990 and trained within the NHS. Since that time she has worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist in educational and business settings and in private practice. For the past five years she has specialised in treating trauma using EMDR in combination with other treatment approaches. She has particular experience of working with clients suffering PTSD following car accidents and accidents or traumas at work. Sian also specialises in treating panic attacks, anxiety and depression, phobias and stress related conditions. She is also a stress management trainer.
Marian Tobin CQSW ASW, is an EMDR Accredited Practitioner and Trauma Therapist. She has worked within adult acute mental health services for over twenty years, predominately within the context of crisis intervention and community mental health teams. She has worked intensively with people presenting in severe mental distress, disturbance and dysfunction with crises characteristically associated with abuse, trauma, torture or psychosocial transition. Her therapeutic practice has evolved to a special interest and skills in working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse. She currently manages a multi disciplinary 24hr crisis team and works within an NHS trauma clinic. She trained in EMDR in 1998/99 and was accredited as a practitioner in 2002.
